Rostock & Warnemünde
Welcome to the biggest city of Mecklenburg- Vorpommern which is situated along both sides of the river Warnow. During the time of Hanse, Rostock got a great significance as trade centre. The first university of northern Europe was founded here.
Even today Rostock is a city of trade and research. The port of Rostock is one of the most important in Germany and starting- point for ferries to Scandinavia, Russia, Poland and Latvia.
The seaside resort Warnemünde is the loveliest part of Rostock. It's directly situated at the Baltic Sea. The white sandy beach, the romantical small fisherman's cottages, excursion boats and fishermen who sell their catch are typical for the former fishermens village. Go shopping in the little boutiques or admire the big cruiseliners. More than 100 "Giants of the Oceans" come every year to the little port of Warnemünde.
