The Marine Science Center of the University of Rostock is directly situated at the eastern pier of Warnemünde.
In various studies the scientists investigate which sensory systems harbour seals have and how they orient in their natural environment. Seals have to learn to operate the experimental device as well as to understand the research task. As the seals are permanently confronted with new experimental situations they achieve a high degree of flexibility. All this keeps the animal physically and mentally fit.
Visitors are welcome to watch the experiments.

It is one of the attractions you should not miss when visiting the region. Within the large park grounds you can see a cross-section of the diverse and colourful world of birds. Birds from every continent can be observed.
Watch the penguins diving and swimming, through a 12m long glass panorama front. In a special purpose built enclosure, there are regular spectacular displays of eagles, hawks, falcons and owls showing off their aerial skills in free flight.
Above all there is a large playground area and a petting zoo.

Several times a day, accompanied by nostalgic tinkling, the steam train Molli runs from Kühlungsborn to Bad Doberan and back.
It cleaves right through the narrow streets of Bad Doberan, along one of Germany's most beautiful lime avenues and the oldest horse racing track of the European continent, through Heiligendamm-the oldest German seaside resort-up to Kühlungsborn.
40 m up to thunder down the track on 521 m: an illuminated spinning top, a bridge and seven steep turns let you have a lot of fun. Have a break and enjoy coffee, snacks and icecream.
